Phoenix Folk exists to promote participation and performance in folk and acoustic music, song and dance.

A limited company, it was established in 2009 and is managed by Maurice Condie, and Rachael Leisk.

Our activities currently include the provision of weekly instrumental classes with a relaxed folk session afterwards. We also run a monthly Folk Club, on the first Friday of the month. Occasional weekend workshops are also offered.  All activities are led by tutors experienced in traditional folk and acoustic music, who will share their knowledge and enthuse you with their passion.

Our weekly classes are held on a Wednesday evening, at the Ouseburn Farm, Byker, Newcastle. Musicians and singers with a range of experience levels will find they are warmly welcomed. We offer occasional courses for absolute beginners. Unless otherwise stated you will need to bring your own instrument. Please see our Classes page for further details.

Our unique eco-building venue has free parking, and self service coffee. Good beer (and food) is only 20 yards away at the Cluny, who are always happy to provide a plastic glass for takeaways.
