Phoenix Chamber Folk Ensemble

The Phoenix Chamber Folk Ensemble is a new project which will begin in early 2020. It will provide an opportunity for competent players to learn, and perform, more challenging and musically interesting arrangements of folk repertoire.  Please click here for an example of the tune arrangements we will be working on.

We are aiming for a mixed instrument ensemble of around 12-20 adult musicians. Membership is open to competent players of any instrument, although places may be limited in order to achieve a good balance. The ensemble will meet twice per month during term times, on Saturday afternoons, in High Heaton, Newcastle upon Tyne.

An initial workshop is scheduled for Saturday 11th January 2020 (2-5pm) at St George's URC, Newton Road, High Heaton, NE7 7HP (click here for directions and transport information). This will give interested musicians the opportunity to learn some arrangements and decide whether they would like to join. A set of audio files will be sent in advance so that participants can familiarise themselves with the tunes that we will be working on during the session. Sheet music will be provided on the day.

The cost of the workshop is £5 and places can be reserved below. If you have any questions, you are very welcome to contact us.
